We have a dedicated tutoring space, minimising background noise with noise-cancelling headphones, and establishing clear guidelines for behaviour during sessions.
We refresh the page, or switch internet/WiFi to a much stronger WiFi. If this does not resolve the problem, we reschedule the session with our students.
We ask open-ended questions and encourage discussions to get everyone involved. We adjust our teaching to match each student’s interests and needs. We use examples from real life to make the lessons more relatable. We also provide regular feedback and personalised support to help keep students motivated and focused on their learning.
We can provide a short demonstration of our online tutoring platform during our first meeting. If you are interested, we can arrange a time to go through the platform and answer any questions you might have.
The maximum class size for group tuition is limited to four students. This ensures personalised attention while still fostering group interaction and collaboration.
We use multimodal teaching, a variety of teaching methods (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) simultaneously, or in combination, ensuring that the lesson appeals to multiple learning preferences at once.
We use tools like think-pair-share, poll-based discussion, collaborative problem-solving in breakout rooms, jigsaw method, peer instruction, fishbowl discussion, role play (explainer-checker), case-study discussions
We use engagement techniques such as structured turn-taking and think-pair-share, to make sure quieter students have opportunities to participate. We also use formative assessments like quick polls or exit tickets to gauge understanding throughout the session. For students needing additional support, we provide one-on-one guidance in breakout rooms or send personalised resources after the session.
We encourage students to have their video on during lessons, as it helps create a more engaging and interactive learning environment. Seeing each other allows for better communication and connection. However, we understand that there may be times when a student may prefer to keep their video off, and that is absolutely fine.
